In the spirit of community engagement and giving back, the Ministry of Health and the Glacis health centre received two donations yesterday afternoon.

The first donation comprising consignments of goods comes from the Glacis community and the office of the MNA as well as generous businessmen and youth groups in the district.

It was handed over by the district’s member of the National Assembly (MNA) Regina Esparon to Valencia Joubert, the head nurse of the Glacis health centre.

This is not the first time that the MNA has helped with the ongoing relief towards fighting the Covid-19 pandemic; earlier this year her LDS colleagues from the National Assembly donated a substantial amount towards the vaccination campaign.

Ms Joubert noted that this donation will be well received by the staff and patients of the health centre as it will help them greatly in their day to day duties.

The second donation was from the Seychelles International Financial Services Association (Sifsa) who donated a sum of $12,000 to the health care department.

It was the chairperson of the association, Ina Laporte, who presented the cheque to the deputy chief executive of the health department, Kathleen Cecile.

Ms Laporte noted that Sifsa and its stakeholders wanted to thank the ministry for the work that it is doing amid this pandemic.

On her part Ms Cecile noted that the vaccination campaign comes at a considerable cost as well as the surging number of positive cases who require ventilation so the donation is very important for them as it helps them continue their work.
