GSC showcases new products through gala dinner |15 July 2019
General managers, executive chefs, food and beverage managers and purchasing managers from leading hotels and restaurants in Seychelles were able to view and experience different food brands imported by Global Supply Centre PTY LTD(GSC) through a gourmet gala dinner held at the Tamassa Lounge and Seafood restaurant, Eden Plaza on Saturday.
As most of the invitees were aware and familiar with the various brands imported by GSC, only the premium brands, namely, White Stripe, Dingley Dell, Lamb Weston, White Range, Président, Valrhona and San Pellegrino, were being showcased.
Addressing the gathering in the presence of GSC’s group general manager, Gopal Venn and staff, the public relations officer, Roland Laljee, said that as tourism is the main pillar of our economy, it is GSC’s vision to deliver premium global brands so that chefs can deliver world class service alongside delectable food for the clientele.
He noted that such event will continue in future so as to get the stakeholders present to be familiar and also to get their opinions on new products manufactured in future under these brands.
The guests, some of whom came from Praslin, were treated with delicacy dishes prepared by the Tamassa kitchen team who were under the guidance of GSC’s corporate chef, Harshal Tamhaney.
Accompanied by some side plates, the buffet consisted of mini lamb kofa with minty yogurt sauce, lamb satay, pork char chiv, pork loin salad, beef roll in breadcrumbs, beef salad, sausages, roast pork, roast beef and roast lamb among others, made from White Stripe (lamb), Dingley Dell (pork) and White Range (beef) products. Some of the dishes were cooked with Président butter.
There was also an assorted variety of desserts made from Guahana, Yuzu, Framboise, Rose Berry, Manjar and Ivoire – premium quality chocolate products from French chocolate company, Valrhona. Also available to taste were a variety of assorted Président cheese and butter.
The guests had the opportunity to interact with Mark Hayward from the United Kingdom (GSC partner and farmer from Dingley Dell), and chef Pankaj Chanta from Dubai (Safco’s corporate chef for pastry and bakery) who were present to share their knowledge and passion about the brands.
The guests who talked to Seychelles NATION said they welcomed the initiative taken by GSC and they noted that the brands on display were of very high quality and the buffet well prepared.
“I think it is a very good effort on GSC’s part to host the event and it had well showcased its products which are of very good quality. I am familiar with these products. When I do cook them I do it my special way,” said Julien Grinaidi, executive head chef, Delplace Restaurant Port Glaud – a client of GSC.
“I am not too familiar with the meat products but we are very familiar with Valrhona products as we work a lot with it. On the whole it’s a great event and the products are top quality,” said Benjamin Painset, assistant executive sous chef, Constance Ephelia and also a GSC client.
“We do buy products from GSC but we don’t buy pork. We mostly buy all our pork from local farmers. The pork products on display tonight are new to us so we will have to try some to see how it goes,” said Roy Moses, assistant purchasing manager, Fisherman’s Cove Hotel.
GSC is a leading hotel and restaurant supplier of fresh, frozen, dry and chill food stuff. It is also a major importer and distributor of non food range containing kitchen amenities, crockery, cutleries, computers and stationery for tourism establishments, among other portfolios.
GSC was established in 2005 and is part of Safco International based in Dubai.
