Four more sports federations benefit from Socga’s support
As its continuous support towards the development of sports in the country, the local Olympic governing body, through the National Olympic Committee has helped four more sports federations with new equipment which will boost their youth development programmes.
The Seychelles Athletics Federation (SAF), the Seychelles Squash Association (SSA), the Seychelles Badminton Association (SBA) and the Seychelles Netball Association (SNA) all received a batch of new equipment during a ceremony at the headquarters of the Seychelles Olympic and Commonwealth Games Association (Socga) at Stad Linite, Roche Caïman.
Athletics head coach Giovanni Fanny received the equipment on behalf of the SAF, while the chairperson of the SNA Dorothy Isidore took the equipment on behalf of her association from Snoc vice-president Hugh Adam, in the presence of Socga president Antonio Gopal and other executive committee members.
Treasurer Trisha Quatre took the donation on behalf of the SSA, while secretary Vanessa Créa accepted the new equipment on behalf of the SBA.
The donation forms part of Snoc’s annual contributions towards local sporting associations and federations.
The funding comes from the annual budget Snoc receives from its parent organisation, the International Olympic Committee (IOC).
Since 2006, mostly all local federations and associations have benefited from Snoc’s donation which is US $4,000 for each sport’s governing body.
