Global Entrepreneurship Week talks at SIAH |19 November 2020
Each year, the Seychelles Investment Board (SIB) organises talks with the final year students of post-secondary institutions with the aim of promoting the many investment opportunities available in Seychelles as well as the procedures required to starting their own business.
This year, the department of Entrepreneurship and Industry (DEI), the Enterprise Seychelles Agency (Esa), the department of Youth and Sports, the Seychelles Agricultural Agency (SAA) and the National Biosecurity Agency (NBA) were cordially invited to deliver presentations and this took place last Friday at the Seychelles Institute for Agriculture and Horticulture (SIAH). The event commenced with presentations from SIB, the Esa and then followed by DEI through which the final year students got a chance to hear about their roles, respectively.
Representing DEI was the principal policy analyst for entrepreneurship, Stephanie Larue, who emphasised on the importance of entrepreneurship to Seychelles’ economy and themselves, the students. Moreover, they were made aware of the characteristics of entrepreneurs and intrapreneurs and subsequently, the differences between an entrepreneur and a businessperson.
To conclude, SAA, NBA delivered their presentations and Michael Jeannevol, an investor, shared his success stories as a form of inspiration.
This talk was another activity being held to commemorate the Global Entrepreneurship Week (GEW) 2020 in Seychelles. Many more activities will be visible throughout this week including live quizzes, youth and women panel discussions and ‘Students Run a Business for a Day’, among others.
