Crops ready for harvest
A large majority of the crops grown by Persévérance residents who have embarked on the ‘Every Home a Garden’ initiative are ready for harvest.
Minister for Fisheries and Agriculture Charles Bastienne yesterday visited over a dozen homes in Persévérance that have embarked on the ‘Every Home a Garden’ initiative.
The ‘Every Home a Garden’ initiative encourages homeowners to grow their own fruits, crops and vegetables in their backyards whereby they are provided inputs from the Seychelles Agriculture Agency (SAA).
A total of 88 residents of Persévérance 1 and 2 have opted to take part in the programme which kicked off a few months ago.
The ministerial visit forms part of the activities to commemorate World Food Day, celebrated every October 16.
