Mini Maz winners receive their cheques |06 October 2020
The winners of the Mini Maz Millions lottery gathered at the Treasure Cove hotel, Bel Ombre yesterday evening to collect their prizes.
As usual it was a Mini Maz family affair where both chief executives – Alan Laporte and Marie-France MacGregor – welcomed their new family members (the winners) in a small reception.
But before handing over the cheques, Mrs MacGregor addressed the attendees and thanked everyone who bought and sold the tickets.
She also thanked the media for their constant coverage of the lottery.
While speaking to the press she also added that this time around they have sold thirty thousand plus tickets.
“We know you are looking forward to the December lottery. We listened to your suggestions and are happy to announce that in December the price of a Maz Million ticket will be R500 and the star prize will be R2 million,” she said.
She continued by saying that the star prize will be R2 million because tickets will be sold cheaper due to the fact that we are in an economic crisis and it would not be right to sell a ticket for R1000.
The next lottery will also include two additional millionaires as the first and second prizes will be R1.5 million and R1 million respectively,” she said.
Mrs MacGregor also added that there is an exciting new project in the works that will certainly delight the public.
As previously reported the star prize winner of the Mini Maz is Gilbert Bouchereau who won R1.5 million, followed by Joachim Sullivan who got R1 million and Francis Rodriguez who pocketed R500,000.
Accepting the cheque on behalf of her husband Gilbert Bouchereau, Vivienne David noted that she bought the ticket for her husband and was completely shocked when she started receiving multiple calls on the day of the draw.
Ms David, who was also selling the Mini Maz tickets at her shop in Unity House, said that on the last day of sales there were seven remaining tickets in her ticket book and she decided to buy all of them.
“We still haven't decided how we are going to invest the winnings but we will spend it on our family,” said Ms David.
Mr Sullivan, who won the first prize on his birthday, said he doesn’t buy lottery tickets that often but he decided to treat himself to a birthday gift which turned out to be the winning ticket.
Mr Sullivan, who bought twelve tickets, noted that he has been buying lottery tickets since he was a child but this is the first time that he has won first prize.
On his part Mr Rodriguez, who took home R500,000 thanked the organisers of the lottery and noted that he was not expecting to win a prize when he bought the ticket. Like the other winners, he too hasn't decided what to do with his winnings.
The other winners of the lottery from the 3rd to the 20th prize are:
