Sacos pledges support in safeguarding local biodiversity
The Sacos Insurance Group is committed and will continue to support the ongoing effort to safeguard the local biodiversity.
The commitment was made by the company’s head of human resources and administration, Jean Ragain, shortly before handing over a batch of tools to the chief executive of the Seychelles National Parks Authority (SNPA) Selby Remie as part of the ongoing celebrations of the insurance group’s 40th anniversary.
The batch which includes garden tools such as shovels, rakes and machetes among others will go towards the Forestry and National Parks Section within the SNPA.
Mr Ragain noted that during its 40 active years, Sacos has become part of the local community; therefore it is the company’s responsibility to give back, especially in the environmental field, precisely the country’s biodiversity.
He added that with the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic which is affecting everyone, Sacos feels that it is its duty to step forward and play a role in matters that affect the whole country, especially the future generations.
Accepting the equipment which will be distributed to all the SNPA’s stations on Mahé, Praslin and La Digue, Mr Remie thanked Sacos for its help which he said comes at an opportune time since the authority’s main source of income which is tourism is presently in a fragile state due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
He added that every help is appreciated and will assist the SNPA to deliver on its ambitious target of getting all the trails clean.
Following the presentation ceremony, Sacos staff, along with their counterparts from the SNPA, planted 160 endemic and rare trees, including Bwa-d-Nat and Lantannyen Fey.
