Foresters floor La Passe to reach final
Newly crowned Premier League champions Foresters swept aside La Digue outfit La Passe 5-1 yesterday afternoon at Stad Linite to reach the final of the SFF Cup.
Foresters opened the scoring in the 3rd minute as Brandon Labrosse fired low past goalkeeper Ian Ah-Kong to make it 1-0 and they increased their lead in the 25th minute through Ryan Henriette for a 2-0 score.
Foresters were denied two penalties by referee Dario Landrie before La Passe’s Malagasy striker Florent shot past goalkeeper Kitson Cecile for a 2-1 score at the interval.
La Passe pushed hard for an equaliser but got caught on the counter in the 83rd minute as Henriette held off Adrian Constance hanging to his jersey to square the ball to Leroy Corallie who made it 3-1.
In the 87th minute, Brandon Labrosse broke clear and his cross was not well cleared and the ball dropped to substitute Elijah Lespoir who was brought down by defender Kenny Constance for a penalty which was converted by Malagasy captain Jean Tigana for a 4-1 lead.
Lespoir completed the rout in the 91st minute as he stabbed home substitute Francis Nourrice’s teasing cross to avenge their league loss to this same opponent and book a final berth against either Côte d’Or or Rovers who will meet on Saturday on Praslin.
Sports NATION will have a more detailed report on this semifinal match in its Monday issue.
