SNYA joins eco-warriors to beautify Au Cap school

The 16th cohort of the Seychelles National Youth Assembly (SNYA) continued with their calendar of activities for the year with a tree planting activity at the Au Cap primary school on Saturday.

This activity forms part of SNYA’s initiative to change and improve the role of the youth assembly, and give back to communities.

Members of the cohort met up with the school’s eco-club who, surprisingly, took the lead in showing the youth assembly the ‘do’s and dont’s’ of planting.

Together, they planted a number of coconut and bodanmyen trees along with various fruit trees.

These in time will flourish to give shade and a healthier school environment to Au Cap primary students.

“The main reason for doing this today is for us to give a supportive hand to this new school which lacks a lot of shade, especially in their sporting area where spectators sit,” Marlon Esparon, the speaker of the youth assembly, stated.

“The eco-warriors were the real heroes that day and it just goes to show how invested they are in the beautification of their school. We were thoroughly impressed with their attitude.”

He noted that this year’s SNYA cohort takes great pride and privilege in doing these actions themselves instead of debating it.

“Why discuss something to which we can action on it ourselves?” he stressed.

SNYA hopes to foster in the younger generation the importance of charitable activities, reaching out to help the community and selflessness.

The accompanying photos show some highlights of the tree planting activity.
