La Passe and Côte d’Or share the spoils
La Digue side La Passe came from behind to share the spoils with reigning SeyPearl league champions Côte d’Or in a 1-1 draw at the L’Union playing field on Saturday afternoon while on Friday evening, Anse Reunion edged LightStars 1-0 at the same pitch in two Inner Island Transitional league division one matches.
La Passe and Côte d’Or draw
Côte d’Or should have taken the lead in this encounter when former La Passe striker Perry Monnaie was handed the chance to open his account for the defending league champions from the penalty spot awarded by referee Kerens Yocette for a foul by Jules Constance on Herve Cesar.
However, Monnaie was denied from the penalty spot by his national team colleague goalkeeper Ian Ah-Kong in the first half for a 0-0 score at the interval.
Côte d’Or though did take the lead in the second half from a strike by their prolific goal scorer, Malagasy Kassah, to make it 1-0 in the 46th minute.
La Passe though were awarded a penalty in the 87th minute when Malagasy Florent was crowded out by three Côte d’Or players which referee Yocette deemed illegal and he pointed to the penalty spot and Florent picked himself up to score the resulting penalty for a 1-1 final scoreline.
Anse Reunion edge LightStars
La Digue outfit Anse Reunion edged Airtel Cup holders LightStars 1-0 at the L’Union playing field on Friday afternoon.
After a goalless first half, this match was heading for a draw but LightStars’ youngster Jeremy Barbé brought down Dieter Constance to concede a penalty given by referee Emile Fred.
New national team striker Randy Emile stepped up to score for a 1-0 result as coach Basil Hoareau’s Anse Reunion put one over their former coach Ted Esther.
