Twenty volunteers of the Red Cross Society of Seychelles (RCSS) are assisting the Ministry of Health in tracing people who have been in contact with those infected with COVID-19.

The volunteers will be based at the Ministry of Health for an undetermined amount of time. The team leaders, Mirenda Esparon and Clita Milius, who have been volunteering for over 30 years and 15 years respectively, have called on other people to be more compassionate towards health professionals.

During a briefing yesterday morning with the RCSS secretary general, Marie-May Bastienne, the project and disaster coordinator, Roy Nibourette, and officials from the Ministry of Health, the volunteers were provided with updated information on the local situation as well as an introduction in contact tracing.

To date, four (4) people have been diagnosed with COVID-19 in the country. The RCSS is also liaising with its international partners, providing updates on the local situation. RCSS volunteers have extensive knowledge and skills in dealing with people and identifying needs.

RCSS believes in humanity and assisting those in need, our work has no boundaries.
