The new Seychelles ambassador to the Kingdom of Sweden, Derick Ally, presented his credentials to His Majesty King Carl XVI Gustaf at The Royal Palace in Stockholm, Sweden on Thursday February 20, 2020.

During his audience with the King of Sweden, Ambassador Ally conveyed the greetings of President Danny Faure and the people of Seychelles to His Majesty and the people of Sweden and expressed Seychelles’ appreciation for the assistance that Sweden has provided in many areas over the years.

The King was particularly interested in Seychelles’ environmental protection programme and recalled fondly of his visit to Seychelles, with his family, in 1996.

Ambassador Ally also held meetings with senior officials at the Swedish Foreign Ministry where they explored possible avenues for future cooperation between Sweden and Seychelles in various fields.

Seychelles and Sweden, especially the City of Umeå, have an active cooperation programme in the fields of health, tourism, education, culture, and sports with numerous exchange visits having taken place.

Ambassador Ally also had the opportunity to extend the gratitude of the government and people of Seychelles to Professor Lars Kristofersson who retired this year as Seychelles honorary consul general in Stockholm, after 36 years of devoted service to Seychelles.
