On This Day in Seychelles’ Sporting History – October 8 |08 October 2026

Every date has a sporting story to tell

Through the years, the pages of the Seychelles NATION have recorded countless moments from the sporting life of the islands, memorable performances, hard-fought contests, emerging talents, established stars and the people who worked behind the scenes to keep sports moving.

It is important to remember that the date in this feature refers to the date the story was published, and not necessarily the date on which the sporting event took place.

A match may have been played days earlier, a competition may have concluded some time before, or an athlete's achievement may already have happened by the time the report reached the newspaper.
