Esparon takes men’s crown as Savy retains ladies’ title

Collin Esparon and Kerine Savy continued their impressive singles campaigns by claiming the men’s and ladies’ titles respectively at this year’s Cable & Wireless darts competition.

Esparon secured the men’s crown with a 5-2 victory over Patrick Radegonde in the final, played on a first-to-five games basis.

The triumph gives Esparon his second title of the year and adds another important piece of silverware to an already competitive season.

The men’s competition featured nine players, who began the tournament in a single pool.

The format required every player to face all of the other competitors, meaning each player had eight matches during the opening stage.

With eight places available in the quarterfinals, every match in the pool carried importance, and only Bernard Berlouis failed to progress to the knockout stage.

The quarterfinals then reduced the field to four players.
