Seychelles adolescents face growing dietary challenges

 

New findings from the 2025 Global School-Based Student Health Survey (GSHS) highlight widespread lunch skipping, reliance on take-away foods, and high sugar consumption among adolescents in Seychelles.

The survey, coordinated locally by the Ministry of Health and the Ministry responsible for Education, provides a snapshot of eating behaviours among students aged 11 to 17 in secondary schools and professional centres. Developed by the World Health Organisation (WHO) in collaboration with Unicef, Unesco, UNAids, the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and the World Bank, the GSHS examines a range of health-related behaviours.
