SMA issues caution as islands brace for storms |05 September 2026

The Seychelles Meteorological Authority (SMA) advises the public that the current severe weather, marked by heavy rainfall and occasional strong winds, is consistent with conditions anticipated since May due to the influence of an active El Niño.

While the rainfall is welcome after prolonged dry conditions, SMA stresses that Seychelles must remain prepared for further periods of significant rainfall in the months ahead.
