Ralph Amesbury, affectionately known as ‘Rizo’, is nothing short of a household name in Seychelles. With 11 albums under his belt and over 30 years of experience as a recoding music artist, many are of the view that he has made significant contributions to the local music scene.

After almost 14 years in which he has not headlined a show or concert, Ralph will take to the stage on June 22 at Tamassa Restaurant, Eden Island, accompanied by his band ‘Blue Sun’ for an acoustic style concert with flair.

“The last shows I put on were in 1999 and 2014. The appearance at Tamassa is the first and I intend to have a series of performances in the following weeks. My band and I will perform for around an hour and a half where we will perform the better-known songs not as the audience are used to hearing it, but with a difference, almost like an unplugged session,” Ralph noted.

While most people know Ralph for his soft, jazz and classical inspired songs performed to the sounds of his acoustic guitar, Ralph notes that the event will be no different, except for the addition of subtle percussion and instruments but overall, the vibe on the night will be mellow and cool.

Sales and marketing and branding manager for Tamassa, Hansell Chetty, notes that the management team wants to provide customers and music fans with a space where they can watch and interact with their favourite artists in action in a calm and relaxed atmosphere.

“It will be a family-friendly show and two types of tickets are available. There is an option for an international buffet starting from 7.30pm priced at R750 while those opting for the concert only will pay only R250. Both tickets earn the ticket holder a free welcome drink,” Mr Chetty noted.

The show is scheduled to start at 9.15pm. As with all concerts hosted at Tamassa, a new and upcoming artist will be given the opportunity to open the show for Ralph. This time around it will be Mariel Erna who featured in the local talent show ‘Sesel I annan talan’ in recent years and is trying to forge a musical career.

“We actively try to promote new artists and this event will be no exception. The feedback from the public has been great and many people seem interested especially since Ralph has been absent for a while,” Mr Chetty concluded.

The event is being sponsored by East Indies and reservations and tickets can be acquired through Tamassa. Tickets can be reserved on 4346880 / 2811445.
