India donates 750 tonnes of rice to Seychelles
In a gesture underscoring the enduring friendship and mutual support between India and Seychelles, the Government of India has donated 750 metric tonnes of premium rice, including both Basmati and non‑Basmati varieties, to the Government of Seychelles.
The handover ceremony took place yesterday at the Dry Goods Warehouse at Seychelles Trading Company (STC) headquarters, Latanier Road, New Port.
The donation forms part of India’s Special Economic Package of US $175 million, following wide‑ranging talks between President Patrick Herminie and Prime Minister Narendra Modi during President Herminie’s six‑day state visit to India in February, and Prime Minister Modi’s reciprocal visit to Victoria in June.
