Comoros appoints Faouzia Vitry to lead Special Purpose Vehicle for JIOI 2027 |04 August 2026

The Comoros Islands have appointed Faouzia Vitry to head the ‘Special Purpose Vehicle’ (SPV‑SAS‑2027) established to oversee preparations for the Indian Ocean Island Games (JIOI) 2027.

Mme Vitry left her political career in Réunion Island to take up this mission. She had previously served as vice-president of the Regional Council of Réunion and as an elected representative in the Municipal Council of Saint Denis, where she was responsible for community affairs. Her work focused on development and regional cooperation across the Indian Ocean, including building relations among island states. This experience, combined with her background in institutional and economic management, has equipped her for the task ahead.
