New facility to empower women and support youth entrepreneurs

President Patrick Herminie yesterday led the unveiling and groundbreaking of the Comesa Federation of Women in Business (COMFWB) Seychelles Incubation and Innovation Hub at Ile Perseverance – a major step toward expanding opportunities for entrepreneurs, especially women and young people.
Launched alongside the ‘Creating Opportunities for Youth and Women in Africa’ (COYWA) programme, the hub will serve as the national focal point for entrepreneurship, innovation, and business development under the wider initiative.
The ceremony, themed ‘Advancing Inclusive and Sustainable Economic Transformation for Youth and Women through Innovation and National Integration’, brought together key regional and national partners. Attendees included Comesa secretary general Chileshe Mpundu Kapwepwe, Minister for Foreign Affairs & the Diaspora Barry Faure, Minister for Industry & Enterprise Geralda Desaubin, COMFWB chief executive Miti Chikakula, and COMFWB Seychelles chairperson Claudette Albert. First Lady Veronique Herminie, ministers, senior officials, and representatives from Comesa, AUDA‑NEPAD, and COMFWB were also present. The hub is expected to be completed by mid‑2027.
