Students learn sustainable gardening techniques at Bel Ombre community garden
Students participating in the Tropical Kids Holiday Adventures programme recently engaged in an educational activity at the Bel Ombre Green Harvest Community Garden, where they explored practical, eco‑friendly methods of weed control using recycled cardboard and coconut husk.
The hands‑on session introduced sustainable gardening practices that naturally suppress weeds, conserve soil moisture, and reduce reliance on chemical herbicides.
By using readily available organic materials, the initiative also underscored the importance of recycling and making sustainable use of local resources in agriculture.
