Ombudsman and SHRC seek Constitutional Court ruling on prison inquiry

The Ombudsman and the Seychelles Human Rights Commission (SHRC) have filed a petition before the Constitutional Court of Seychelles seeking the determination of constitutional questions arising from the establishment of the Commission of Inquiry into the Montagne Posée Prison Incident.

The petition concerns the Commission of Inquiry established by the President of the Republic of Seychelles on March 23, 2026 under the Commissions of Inquiry Act to inquire into the events that occurred at Montagne Posée Prison on December 5–6, 2024.
