National Assembly approves creation of Drug Enforcement Agency Seychelles
By Mandy Bertin
The National Assembly has approved the Drug Enforcement Agency Seychelles Bill (2026), as amended, during Wednesday’s sitting after its third reading.
The bill, presented by Vice-President Sebastian Pillay on Tuesday, passed on its general merits but returned for a third reading to incorporate amendments.
In presenting the legislation, Vice-President Pillay explained that most countries have dedicated agencies to combat narcotics trafficking and illicit drugs, tailored to their specific circumstances. Seychelles, he said, must follow suit to strengthen its fight against drug-related crimes.
