Ms Florentine has worked with the Ministry of Education as a teacher for twelve years and was also on the school’s management team where she held the responsibilities of a Special Education Needs Coordinator (Senco).
Since she wanted to challenge herself further, she opted to work for print media at the Today In Seychelles, which is an independent newspaper, where she served for almost three years. There, she was the main news writer and was exposed to an array of opportunities among which were attending state visits, covering top national news, be the point of contact for the newspaper with many government and private entities, attending press conferences and many others. She even had the chance to follow short tailored courses in investigative journalism to boost her skills and knowledge while performing the job.
As a journalist, Ms Florentine was engaged in covering a number of activities and workshops held by Ceps as well as interacting with members of the secretariat on a professional basis.
Additionally, she got the chance to attend several events and cover news related items concerning associations that are members of Ceps and the civil society in general. These include the regional councils set, the Cap Ternay project, EU project on gender-based violence, among many others.
Since January 2019, Ms Florentine has been following a part-time course in Business Administration at Master’s level. The course has equipped her with essential leadership and strategic management skills when it comes to the functioning and management of an organisation along with other aspects it entails which are extremely crucial in her new post as deputy CEO of Ceps.
Her vision is to work in collaboration with other staff of the secretariat and board members to promote more visibility in Ceps, thus aiming to make Ceps a more engaging platform which touches the citizens of Seychelles in every aspect.
