IP Run celebrates innovation and community spirit through sport

The grounds of the Roche Caïman fitness trail came alive on Tuesday evening as participants gathered for the Intellectual Property (IP) Run for Sports Innovation, a vibrant event celebrating the connection between sports, creativity and innovation.

Organised through a collaboration between the Ministry of Youth and Sports, the National Sports Council (NSC) and the National Intellectual Property Committee, the event attracted colleagues from the trade division, members of Victoria City Football Club, as well as family members and supporters who contributed to an energetic and festive atmosphere.

The initiative formed part of activities marking World Intellectual Property Day 2026, held this year under the theme ‘IP and Sports: Ready, Set, Innovate’.

The theme highlights the growing relationship between intellectual property and the sporting world, recognising how creativity and innovation continue to shape modern sports through advancements in equipment, broadcasting technologies and athlete development.

Participants embraced not only the physical challenge of the run, but also the sense of camaraderie and community spirit that defined the evening.

Laughter, encouragement and shared enthusiasm were evident throughout the event, reflecting the organisers’ objective of promoting awareness of intellectual property through healthy and engaging activities.

The success of the event was further strengthened by the support of sponsors – Seychelles Breweries and Hidden Springs –, whose contributions helped create a memorable occasion for all involved.

Beyond the competition itself, organisers emphasised the importance of collaboration between government institutions, sporting organisations and private sector partners in encouraging both innovation and wellness within the community.

More than simply a race, the IP Run 2026 stood as a celebration of creativity, resilience and the vibrant spirit of Seychelles sport.
