Seychelles Chess Federation AGM ends without meeting amid governance dispute

 

An annual general meeting of the Seychelles Chess Federation, advertised for Saturday April 25, 2026, ended without being formally convened following disagreements over membership, quorum and procedure.

The meeting, scheduled for 10.30am at the National Library, did not begin until shortly after 11.20am, when Seychelles Chess Federation (SCF) chairman Benjamin Hoareau addressed the 11 other attendees. Before any formal proceedings could start, the chairman requested that any non-members leave on the basis that the annual general meeting (AGM) was “for members only”, prompting immediate questions from those in attendance about who qualified as a member and whether a quorum existed.
