Import and export services to transition to monServis Portal on May 1, 2026

The Seychelles Trade Division has announced that the Import and Export (IE) permit online service will officially migrate from the E-Services Gateway to the government’s modern monServis portal effective May 1, 2026.

The announcement was made during a press conference led by Ricky Barbé, director general for Trade, and Lianette Lesperance, director of the Import and Export Unit, alongside representatives from the Department of Information Communications Technology (DICT), Nafissatou Diallo, director of Software Development, and Nilukshi Ekanayake, principal analyst programmer.

A more secure, streamlined system

Mr Barbé explained that the IE-Permit service provides a secure platform for individuals, businesses, and organisations to submit import and export applications electronically. Previously accessed via the E-Service Gateway, the system required e-ID credentials issued by the Trade Division.

Under the new system, users must register for a SeyID®, the national digital identity launched in 2022. For businesses, the process involves employees first obtaining their SeyID®, followed by entity registration on the Biz Auth portal before accessing the IE-Permit service. This transition is expected to enhance security, reduce administrative delays, and improve transparency in trade facilitation.

Advancing digital transformation

Ms Diallo highlighted that the migration aligns with Seychelles’ broader digital transformation strategy, which includes the modernisation of government services through monServis in 2024. “These initiatives streamline processes, improve efficiency, and deliver faster, more accessible services to the public,” she said.

DICT also emphasised that private sector services, such as those offered by Cable & Wireless Seychelles (CWS) and the Public Utilities Corporation (PUC), could potentially integrate with SeyID®, further expanding the reach of the national digital identity system.

Towards paperless transactions

Officials underscored that the transition represents a major step toward phasing out paper-based transactions, lowering printing costs, and promoting sustainable practices across both government and private sector operations.
