Muccia thrash Rangers 6-0 to go second
With the Seychelles Football Federation League One season nearing its end and the title already claimed by West Boys United, Muccia, down to 10 men for most of the match, thrashed Rangers 6-0 on Thursday at Stad Popiler to secure second place and a playoff spot for promotion to the Championship League next season.
Rangers, composed mostly of young students, started strong, launching two dangerous attacks early on and which were saved brilliantly by Muccia goalkeeper Dwane Freminot. However, their efforts were undone just five minutes into the match when Jean Oelinot scored to give Muccia a 1-0 lead.
Despite trailing, Rangers maintained their momentum, pressing for an equaliser. Their hopes were heightened in the 39th minute when Franky Naiken received a red card for a dangerous foul, reducing Muccia to 10 men. Yet, Rangers did not make use of the numerical advantage as Muccia struck again in the 45th minute through Jean Dialot to put Muccia 2-0 ahead at half-time.
