Seychelles lose 1-2, eliminated from qualifiers
Needing only a draw to qualify for the group stage, Seychelles were eliminated from the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying after losing yesterday’s away match 1-2 to Lesotho at the Toyota Stadium in Bloemfontein, South Africa.
After playing out a goalless draw in the home fixture contested at the same venue last Thursday, Seychelles took the lead with a goal from 40 yards. Lesotho goalkeeper Sekhoane Moerane had rushed way off his line to intercept a long ball, but did not get there in time, and Brandon Labrosse scored in an empty net with a long-range strike.
