Mavericks thrash Mont Fleuri to move second

Mavericks, coached by Samuel Gill, tightened the title race in the Seychelles Football Federation League One after a commanding 4-0 victory over Mont Fleuri on Thursday evening at Stad Popiler.

The emphatic win lifted Mavericks to second place on 24 points from 11 matches, just one point behind leaders Muccia, and ensured that the battle for top spot remained finely poised.

Muccia, who joined League One at the end of last season following relegation from the Championship League, had underlined their intentions earlier in the round with a resounding 6-1 victory over Mont Buxton.

Mavericks took a deserved lead in the 27th minute when Santatra Nomenjanahary broke the deadlock, capping a controlled first-half performance that saw Gill’s side dictate the tempo and create the clearer chances.
