Launch of a national ‘One Minute Silence’ campaign

The Seychelles Interfaith Committee has been working tirelessly to promote community welfare and maintain peace in the country. Over the past week, the committee has been hosting Sister Maureen Goodman, a motivational speaker and peace ambassador, who engaged with various groups from different walks of life.

Yesterday, the Seychelles Interfaith Council (Sifco) met with the press to review the week’s activities and announce the launch of a national ‘One Minute Silence’ campaign. Chairperson Reverend Danny Elizabeth explained that Sifco intends to initiate a ‘One Minute Silence’ campaign where the entire nation is invited to reflect, pause, pray, and meditate.

“Imagine 120,000 people observing silence simultaneously; what a powerful moment and symbol for spiritual peace. It allows individuals to reflect on who they are and connect with others on the same frequency of inner peace.”

Reverend Elizabeth said Sifco is proposing that the campaign starts in schools through the Ministry of Education and then extended to other government institutions.
