Temporary market opens at ex-STC in Victoria

Fruit, vegetable and souvenir vendors, who were operating at the Selwyn Selwyn Clarke Market, are now based at the former Seychelles Trading Company (STC) supermarket in Victoria.

The official inauguration of the temporary market was held on Tuesday by President Wavel Ramkalawan, accompanied by Vice-President Ahmed Afif. It included a symbolic ribbon-cutting by President Ramkalawan, Minister for Agriculture Flavien Joubert, principal secretary Keven Nancy, and market manager Vincent Germain, officially opening the temporary facility for business.

The market hosts 116 fruit and vegetable vendors, 23 souvenir stalls, and four butcher stalls. This arrangement is set to last for nine months while the iconic Selwyn Selwyn Clarke Market undergoes major renovations.
