Chaka Brothers celebrates 60 years of business and heritage |30 May 2025

A legacy of trade, family and giving back to society
The iconic Chaka Brothers, affectionately known by many older folks as La Maison Chaka, is proudly celebrating its 60th anniversary, a remarkable milestone not only in business but also in Seychelles’ multicultural and architectural history.
To mark the occasion, the Chaka family is hosting a public celebration today and tomorrow from 10.30am to 3.30pm in the car park of the National Museum in Victoria, turning the commemoration into an event for the community. Visitors can expect food stalls and cultural interactions that reflect the Chaka family’s ethos of sharing and integration.
“We are fortunate to have enjoyed 60 years of successful commercial and social life, thanks to the Almighty. We have integrated well with the people of Seychelles while still practicing our Muslim faith. We want to give back to society and one of the best ways to connect is through food,” said Abdul-Gafoor Yakub, current chairman and managing director of the Chaka Brothers business.
