Eliel Meriza stands out

It was with great pride and joy that Eliel Meriza accepted the President’s Cup yesterday afternoon, after being named the outstanding student for the 2023-2024 cohort of the Seychelles Maritime Academy.

Eliel received this accolade from the Head of State during the institution’s graduation ceremony at the International Conference Centre.

“I am extremely proud of myself for all the efforts I put in both my academics and school activities,” he stated.

“There were times I doubted myself; moments I felt like I was not doing enough. So to be standing here today and receiving this award means more than I can put in words,” shared Eliel.

He described his tenure at the institution as a rollercoaster of emotions with good days as well as tough ones. He got through these challenges with the help of his colleagues, lecturers and his mother, he shared. “Whenever lecturers presented a task, I was always willing and prepared to take on any challenges, no matter how demanding. Whether it was academic-related or part of school activities, I was consistently present and actively involved. I contributed where I could and gave my best in every opportunity that came my way.”
