International School Seychelles celebrates Africa Day

International School Seychelles (ISS) proudly celebrated Africa Day yesterday, bringing together students, staff, and families in a vibrant display of unity, culture, and heritage.

While Africa Day is officially celebrated on May 25, as it falls on a Sunday this year, ISS marked the occasion on the preceding Friday to ensure full participation from the school community.

Staff and children came dressed in African attire, showcasing the continent’s rich diversity and traditions. The school community embraced the opportunity to celebrate Africa’s heritage through colourful clothing, music, and activities that reflected the spirit of the day.

“This celebration was a wonderful opportunity to honour our shared identity and recognise the beauty and strength of African culture,” said Elodie Vallantine, the Executive Head. “It was heartwarming to see such enthusiastic participation from across the school.”

The event underscored the importance of cultural pride, respect, and togetherness – values that are deeply embedded in the ISS ethos. It was a memorable day that highlighted not only the diversity within the school but also the unity that brings everyone together. Africa Day at ISS was truly a colourful celebration of community, culture, and connection.
