Cabinet approves a number of legal and policy memoranda
President Wavel Ramkalawan chaired a scheduled meeting of the Cabinet on Wednesday May 7, in which a number of legal and policy memoranda were approved.
Cabinet approved a proposed reform of the secondary education system to transition to a K12 structure featuring Lower, Middle and Upper Secondary levels with differentiated academic, technical and vocational pathways. Cabinet further approved the phased implementation of the reform, starting with pilot projects at Praslin and La Digue Secondary Schools in January 2026.
Cabinet approved the disposal of six properties from the Seychelles Pension Fund’s real estate portfolio – namely Pointe Au Sel land, Corail D’Or Apartments, Port Glaud Industrial Estate, La Clementine, La Passe Pension House, and La Digue Land – as recommended by the Board of Trustees. The decision supports SPF’s investment strategy.
Cabinet approved the Disaster Risk Financing Strategy 2025-2030 and its accompanying Action Plan. The strategy aims to strengthen Seychelles’ financial resilience against disasters through a mix of proactive and responsive financing tools. The National Planning department, in collaboration with the Disaster Risk Management Division and other stakeholders, will lead the effective implementation of the strategy.
