Brazil thrash Oman to top group D
- Italy, Senegal, Spain advance to the quarterfinals

Defending champions Brazil yesterday confirmed their quarterfinal spot in style with an 11-1 trouncing of Oman to finish on top of group D, ahead of Italy who finished as runners-up, while in group C, Senegal moved to the quarterfinals as leaders following their 7-3 victory over Chile, with Spain taking the second place after their 8-3 victory over Tahiti.

Brazil fought for their first-place spot against Oman, with the defending champions relentlessly hunting down their opponents.
They earned an early set piece when Edson Hulk was brought down, and from the resulting opportunity Hulk smashed a low shot into the bottom corner to make it 1-0.
Not long after Brazil showed off their acrobatic ability through a second goal scored through a bicycle kick by Rodrigo.
