A sensational goal from Andre Lourenco lit up Portugal’s commanding victory over Mauritania, securing their place in the quarter-finals of the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup™ with a game to spare, while ending Mauritania’s hopes of progressing.

Portugal will next face IR Iran to determine the Group B winner, while Mauritania will aim to salvage pride in their final match against Paraguay.

The scoring began in style as goalkeeper Pedro Mano volleyed in his first goal of the tournament. Leo Martins and Jordan followed up with goals of their own, continuing their strong scoring form. However, it was Lourenco who stole the spotlight, netting two stunning goals—one of which is already being hailed as a tournament classic.

Despite the defeat, Mauritania showed resilience and were rewarded late in the match with a spectacular strike from Cheikh Belkheir.
