Cable & Wireless partners with Team Seychelles ahead of historic Fifa World Cup
Telecommunication company Cable & Wireless Seychelles has proudly reaffirmed its commitment to national pride and sporting excellence by signing an agreement with the Ministry of Youth, Sports and Family and the Seychelles Football Federation to support Team Seychelles ahead of the Fédération Internationale de Football Association Beach Soccer World Cup, scheduled to take place in the country between May 1-11, 2025.
The agreement was officially sealed at the CWS Victoria, where key representatives gathered to celebrate this collaboration.
As part of its contribution, Cable & Wireless presented donations of smartphones and data packages for each team member, ensuring that the team stays connected and supported throughout their journey to the pinnacle of their sporting code.
This sponsorship reflects CWS’s continued efforts to empower local talent, promote youth development, and rally the nation behind our athletes representing Seychelles on an international level.
“Our national athletes are not just competing on the world stage, but they are representing the heart and spirit of Seychelles,” said Naadir Hassan, chief executive of Cable & Wireless, adding that as a proud local Seychellois company, they are honoured to stand behind Team Seychelles, who are not only representing us at home but showcasing the spirit of Seychelles to the world, through community pride.
The agreement further outlines that Team Seychelles will continue to benefit from additional forms of support, including donations through CWS’s Loyalty Points platform, performance-based goal bonuses, and other forms of monetary assistance to reward and motivate the players throughout the tournament journey.
Principal secretary for Youth and Sports Ralph Jean-Louis, praised the collaborative effort, noting that the partnership is a shining example of how the government and private sector can unite to uplift our youth and our nation.
“Team Seychelles embodies our resilience, and with the support of partners like Cable & Wireless, they will carry our dreams proudly onto the world stage. I am pleased that weeks of constructive discussions have culminated in the signing of this meaningful agreement, all for the benefit of Team Seychelles,” added PS Jean Louis.
For his part, secretary general of the Seychelles Football Federation, Denis Rose thanked companies like Cable & Wireless for stepping forward and showing their support.
“Their commitment makes a real difference, and we hope it encourages even more organisations to come forward and rally behind our national team,” he added.
The initiative marks a significant step in uniting the community and creating a wave of support as Seychelles prepares to welcome the world for one of football’s most dynamic tournaments, for the first time in Seychelles and Africa.
