Seychelles-UK partnership strengthens with support for teenage mothers

The British High Commission has delivered R80,000 worth of books, educational toys, games, audio visual equipment and two accredited online training courses from the UK on relationships and sex education to the Elles Foundation.

The resources were purchased using funds raised during the commission’s annual Christmas celebration with the handover taking place at the British High Commission in Victoria on Thursday.

Elles Foundation is a Seychellois non-governmental organisation (NGO) founded to create a safe space for youth and women in Seychelles. It is committed to supporting and educating young people to make safe and responsible choices while empowering teenage parents with skills and resources to support their children and improve their socio-economic status. The foundation also delivers comprehensive education on reproductive health, consent, and relationships to both children and adults. It strives to reduce the number of teenage pregnancies through targeted interventions while raising awareness about sexual health and abuse issues.
