‘From scratch to World Cup’

•          A brief insight into the history of Seychelles’ beach soccer

Beach football started in Brazil, more precisely in Rio de Janeiro, and in 1950, the first official tournament was created to unify small neighbourhood tournaments that happened since 1940.

It has grown to be an international game, and the participation of international players such as Eric Cantona, Michel, Julio Salinas, Romário, Júnior and Zico have helped to expand television coverage to audiences in over 170 countries.
