Work progress on stadium at 87% as handing-over date approaches

  •          Seychelles Football Federation still missing in action

As of yesterday, the working progress on the facilities to host the Fédération Internationale de Football Association Beach Soccer World Cup scheduled to take place in the country between May 1-11, 2025 was at 87%, while the Seychelles Football Federation which was supposed to raise the funding for the event is still nowhere to be found, after failing to do so.

The handing-over date of the whole project has been set for April 17.

During a meeting held yesterday at State House yesterday and chaired by President Wavel Ramkalawan, involving members of a special committee set up to ensure that the event takes place, progress reports in various areas of preparation were shared, and for the first time, members of the media were in attendance.

It was the responsibility of the Seychelles Football Federation (SFF), through a commitment made by its president Elvis Chetty, to raise funds for the event, but after miserably failing to do so, the Seychelles government – through President Ramkalawan – stepped in to ensure that the prestigious world event embraces our shores, saving Seychelles the embarrassment, and humiliation.
