 ‘One School, One Nation’ programme launched

 

The excitement for the Fédération Internationale de Football Association Beach Soccer World Cup, scheduled to take place in the country between May 1-11, 2025 reached new heights on Thursday with the official launch of the ‘One School, One Nation’ education programme.

The official launch took place at the Olympic House, Roche Caïman, bringing together representatives from 16 secondary schools across the country.

The highlight of the morning was the live draw, during which each participating school was randomly assigned one of the 16 nations set to compete in the tournament.

This symbolic moment marked the beginning of an inspiring educational and cultural journey for students nationwide.

During the event, detailed information about the programme was shared with school representatives, alongside the distribution of welcome kits and official colouring templates to start their participation.

Through ‘One School, One Nation’ students will delve into their assigned nation's geography, history, culture, cuisine, and sporting traditions, fostering a deeper understanding of the world beyond Seychelles.

“The programme is about more than football. It is about education, cultural exchange, and building a sense of global community,” said Ian Riley, chief executive of the local organising committee, adding that they are thrilled to involve our youth in such a meaningful way as Seychelles prepares to host this historic event.

Based on the draws, the following schools have been associated the following participating countries: Pointe Larue (Italy), La Digue (Tahiti), Anse Boileau (Belarus), School for the Exceptional Child (Senegal), Independent School (Seychelles), Ecole Française (Paraguay), Beau Vallon (Oman), Mont Fleuri (Iran), Vijay ISS (Guatemala), Belonie (Mauritania), English River (Chile),

Grand Anse Praslin (Brazil), Anse Royale (Spain) and Persévérance(Portugal)

As the tournament draws closer, schools will proudly support their assigned teams alongside their home team, Team Seychelles, further building excitement and unity ahead of the Fifa Beach Soccer World Cup.

Prices start from just R150 / US $10.

Tickets are available for purchase at the National Library, offering an additional convenient option for local fans.
