Seychelles karting gears up for an exciting 2025 season

 

The Seychelles Karting Association has officially launched its 2025 racing season with an exciting Academy selection session on Saturday March 1, 2025.

With an overwhelming response of over 50 applicants, the programme had to make difficult choices, ultimately selecting 23 young motorsport enthusiasts, aged 8 and above, to join the academy. The selection process, led by programme coordinator Dave Rene, included a comprehensive briefing for parents and drivers on the expectations and process of the academy.

 

Racing season begins – Round 1 of the championship 

The much-anticipated 2025 championship will kick off on Saturday March 8, 2025 at 2PM with round 1, featuring an exciting line-up of eight cadet drivers ready to battle it out on the track. This marks the beginning of what is expected to be a thrilling season filled with intense racing and growing talent.

 

SKA commits to sustainability – FIA Environmental Accreditation 

As part of its ongoing commitment to aligning with FIA environmental standards, SKA has officially applied for its FIA 1-star environmental accreditation under the FIA Environment Code.

This milestone signifies SKA’s dedication to sustainability in motorsport. To spearhead this initiative, Abigail Cosgrow has been appointed as the SKA environmental officer, effective February 26, 2025. Abigail will be responsible for ensuring SKA adheres to the targets and objectives set to minimise the sport’s environmental impact.

 

Africa Motorsport Games 2025 – A Chance for Seychelles’ young racers! 

On Wednesday March 5, 2025, SKA met with a group of young drivers and their parents to discuss preparations for the upcoming Africa Motorsport Games 2025, scheduled to take place in Mozambique this August.

This event represents a huge opportunityfor young Seychellois drivers to compete on an international stage, racing alongside the best talent from across the continent.

However, participation in such a high-profile event comes with financial challenges. SKA is actively seeking funding and sponsorship to support these young drivers in representing Seychelles on this prestigious platform. The association appeals to the local corporate community for financial support to help make this dream a reality. Interested sponsors and supporters are encouraged to get in touch with SKA.

 

Celebrating women in motorsport – SKA girls on track 

In celebration of International Women’s Day on March 8,  2025, SKA extends warm wishes to all women in Seychelles, especially to its dedicated members and volunteers. SKA remains committed to empowering women in motorsport, both on and off the track.

To mark this occasion, SKA is relaunching its women’s racing class under the initiative ‘SKA Girls on Track’, welcoming six new female racers to the sport. This initiative reflects SKA’s dedication to fostering greater female participation in motorsport, reinforcing the importance of inclusivity and equal opportunities.
