Seychelles Consul to Malaysia donates equipment to local badminton federation

The Seychelles Consul to Malaysia, Kabilan Muniandy, donated a batch of equipment to the Seychelles Badminton Federation during a small ceremony on Monday afternoon at the La Promenade Gymnasium.

The handing over took place in the presence of the principal secretary for Youth and Sports, Ralph Jean-Louis, who was instrumental in coordinating this donation through close collaboration and cooperation with the Consul.

The Seychelles Badminton Federation (SBF) vice-chairman, Steve Malcouzanne, accepted the donation from Mr Kabilan and PS Jean-Louis on behalf of the federation in the presence of local coaches and players.

PS Jean-Louis highlighted the good cooperation between his department and the Seychelles Consul to Malaysia over the last two years which he said is creating opportunities for youths in sports and other areas such as agriculture.

“On behalf of the Sports ministry, we would like to thank Mr Kabilan for this generous donation,” said PS Jean-Louis, adding that Mr Kabilan is a keen badminton coach who is eager to promote this sport in our country, and that he has even came up, after negotiations, with an interesting programme, which has been put to the SBF to help our team’s preparation for the upcoming CJSOI Games.

As for Mr Kabilan, he spoke about his first visit when he saw how he could assist with such donation and other technical expertise.

“After visiting you last time, I could see your needs and this is what I have brought in this donation,” adding that he felt he should be part of this development.

“I know I can do more to develop this sport in the next two years, for immediate use, I saw that these are some equipment that is much needed to help you in training and competitions,” Mr Kabilan added.

The honorary consul added that he hopes the equipment will motivate the players and he plans for bigger things in the near future, while he also thanked whole-heartedly the department of Foreign Affairs for its continuous support.

For his part, vice-chairperson Malcouzanne expressed his gratitude to Mr Kabilan for such a timely donation and reassured him that it will be of great help.

The batch of equipment comprise shoes, socks, strings, racket, bags, and shuttlecock, which will be beneficial in the team’s preparation for the upcoming regional Youth games in August.
