The year 2024 was a time of growth and resilience for many businesses in Seychelles. Despite challenges following the December 7 disaster of 2023, which impacted over 600 enterprises, companies found ways to adapt and move forward, with support from programmes like the 7th December Micro Business Scheme.

From international events like the Seychelles-China Expo to local achievements such as new product launches, the year showcased efforts to support innovation, entrepreneurship and growth.

 

In January, the 7th December Micro Business Scheme was introduced to assist small businesses impacted by the December 7 disaster. Announced by Minister for Investment, Entrepreneurship, and Industry, Devika Vidot, the scheme offered interest-free loans up to R100, 000 and was administered by the Development Bank of Seychelles (DBS). Eligible businesses, with a gross turnover under R2 million in 2022, could use the funds for restocking, equipment replacement, minor repairs, and daily operations.
