Young teacher attacked at Anse Aux Pins primary |07 November 2019
It has been confirmed that a young female teacher was physically assaulted by a parent yesterday morning at Anse Aux Pins primary school.
According to a very brief press release sent out by the Ministry of Education and Human Resource Development, the 24-year-old teacher “incurred moderate injury to the head”.
A ministry official later detailed that the teacher received subsequent medical care and the information was confirmed by the police.
The incident has been reported to the police and, according to the press release, “action has been taken”.
Seychelles NATION contacted the Anse Aux Pins primary school head-teacher, Kathleen Samson, who was unable to provide any further information since she had been advised not to do so.
The ministry official contacted reiterated the same, stating that they are limited on the types of information they can give out since this is now a police case.
Seychelles NATION has however learned that the incident that prompted the attack on the teacher was a result of the teacher beating the woman’s son.
The 41-year-old parent spent the whole day and night yesterday in police custody.
