Melodi Lafanmiy team up with choirs in engaging vocal session

The Melodi Lafanmiy association of Grand Anse Mahé, in collaboration with the Perseverance, Port Glaud, and Baie Lazare choirs from the Roman Catholic faith, organised an engaging half-day vocal session on Saturday, March 2, at the Petit Séminaire.

This session, facilitated by music instructor Antoine Souris and his wife, Nidia, attracted around 100 eager participants.

Christopher Adelaide, chairperson of the Melodi Lafanmiy association, started the event by commending the choirs for their commitment to sharing uplifting messages and healthy family values through their voices.

He emphasised the session's overall aim was to refine the choirs' vocal skills, ensuring a more harmonious and impactful performance that would resonate well with their audiences.

Additionally, he highlighted the significance of this gathering as an opportunity for choirs to share knowledge, exchange best practices, and strengthen their sense of fraternity.

He expressed regret over not being able to invite more choirs due to space limitations.

During the event, Bishop Alain Harel of the Roman Catholic Church of Seychelles paid a visit to the choirs, offering words of encouragement.

Bishop Harel reminded participants that listening is just as important in the school of music and shared his dream of seeing all choirs from all groups and parishes come together as one for the greatest performance yet.

In his closing remarks, Mr Adelaide announced a Gospel show planned for May 4, in commemoration of the International Day of Families on May 15.

He revealed that the choirs would showcase the new techniques they had learned during the session.

Participants expressed great satisfaction with the knowledge and skills gained from the workshop, and many requested more similar sessions in the future.

The accompanying photos show some highlights of the session.
