Arsu finish third overall
Anse Royale-based Arsu have concluded the 28th African Volleyball Confederation (CAVB) Zone 7 Volleyball Club Championships, held in Madagascar, in the third place overall, retrograding to one spot down after finishing as runners-up last year.
In the third-place match, Arsu beat Tampon Gecko Volley Club Sportif of Reunion 3-1 (25-19, 15-25, 25-14, 25-10) to bring home the bronze medal.
Arsu’s journey has been highlighted by victories in all their three group matches to finish as leaders.
Drawn in group B, their first match ended 3-0 (25-20, 25-12, 25-18) against Tranquebar Black Rangers of Mauritius, before beating Zamfi Club de Mtezamboro of Mayotte 3-0 (25-9, 25-12, 25-6).
In their third and final group match on Monday, Arsu defeated Squad X-Club of hosts Madagascar 3-0 (25-9, 25-18, and 25-11) to finish as group leaders, booking a spot in the quarterfinal, where they eliminated St Denis of Reunion 3-0 (25-16, 25-21, 25-14).
In the semifinal, Arsu lost to Gendarmerie Nationale of Madagascar 2-3 (16-25, 25-12, 19-25, 25-22,3-15).
