Arsu eliminate St Denis to reach semifinal
- City Ladies win third match to top group
Arsu have taken another crucial step towards achieving their objective to win the ongoing 28th African Volleyball Confederation (CAVB) Zone 7 Volleyball Club Championships taking place in Madagascar, after booking their place in the semifinal yesterday.
In the quarterfinal yesterday, Arsu eliminated St Denis of Reunion 3-0 (25-16, 25-21, 25-14).
To qualify for the quarterfinal, Arsu who played in group B, won their first match 3-0 (25-20, 25-12, 25-18) against Tranquebar Black Rangers of Mauritius on Saturday, before beating Zamfi Club de Mtezamboro of Mayotte 3-0 (25-9, 25-12, 25-6) on Sunday.
In their third and final group match on Monday, Arsu defeated Squad X-Club of hosts Madagascar 3-0 (25-9, 25-18, and 25-11) to finish as group leaders.
Seychelles’ other female representatives City Ladies have also qualified for the quarterfinal, after having won all their group D matches to finish as group leaders.
In their first match on Sunday, City Ladies defeated Côte Ouest of Reunion 3-1 (23-25, 25-13, 25-14, 25-14), while in their second match on Monday, captain Angelique Adeline and company defeated Akany Sambatra Itaosy of Madagascar 3-0.
The set scores were 25-14, 25-20, and 25-12.
In their last group match yesterday, they defeated Orange Club of Rodrigues 3-0 (25-15, 25-10, 25-15) to book their semifinal berth.
